When technologist Luis von Ahn was building the popular language-learning platform Duolingo, he faced a big problem: Could an app designed to teach you something ever compete with addictive platforms like Instagram and TikTok? #23 Samata Throughout the video they are discussing how to get people hooked on learning like they are with social media and in the video he discusses the structure they used to make your brain believe that it likes learning the same way it does when your on snapchat, Instagram, tik tok. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_cnXToDZzM In the video they go into further detail why your brain is addicted to social medias and how to create a structure that will take the chemicals in your brain that react to social media and how to make them react to studying so you get addicted to learning, supporting the argument that we are addicted to social media and we can find ways to be addicted…

I really like the comment that @lugodan000 made. they talked about how the rise of duolingo users also meant the rise of social media users and I agree on how the image they used was rid of abstraction and how it closely related to the video. due to the increase of addictions to social media caused a higher rate of phone use in general which means more use of all applications

The speaker in this podcast is the creator of the app Duolingo. He talks about how the goal when making this app was to make it addictive like social media. This chart supports this TED talk because it shows the increase in popularity of social media over time and reflects what people are becoming more interested on. This chart shows that people are becoming more addicted to social media and therefore, we can assume why the creator of Duolingo would want this app to be just like social media.

This film describes the origins of Duolingo, which makes us feel good and has the potential to become addictive. I want to connect this video to another called "Sunlight Can Make You Happier." The reason I chose this one is that once the body experiences joy and contentment from the sun, addiction and habit formation ensue. The feeling of satisfaction that permeates both videos, in my opinion, is the topic.
